A 10-year-old North Carolina boy was injured after being struck by a vehicle on Feb. 12. The accident happened around 9:30 a.m. in Pitt County, according to authorities.
An official with Pactolus Fire Rescue said that emergency crews were dispatched to Poorman’s Flea Market to assist a boy who had been hit by a trailer. A witness told a local TV station that the victim was trapped beneath the trailer and screaming. A man reportedly lifted the trailer off of him.
The victim suffered an ankle injury and was transported to Vidant Medical Center. It is not yet known if the driver who struck him will face any charges.
A person who is injured in a motor vehicle accident often incurs serious injuries that require extensive and expensive medical care and treatment. If the injured victim is an adult, there is the possibility of lost wages due to an inability to return to gainful employment during the recovery period, and in some cases, the victim may never be able to work again. In other cases, the victim’s future quality of life will be significantly affected. If it can be demonstrated that the accident was the result of another motorist who was distracted by a cellphone or other device, impaired by alcohol or drugs, speeding, or negligent in some other fashion, then an attorney can often be of assistance in seeking compensation for these and other applicable losses through the filing of a personal injury lawsuit naming the at-fault motorist as a defendant.
