The law firm of O’Malley Tunstall, PC has distinguished itself with its lawyers’ devotion to the injured and disabled people of the Raleigh metro area to the Coast. We truly represent the people of Eastern North Carolina.
Our firm’s leaders are two of the region’s most respected legal figures. Susan M. O’Malley is a North Carolina Bar Board Certified Disability Specialist in Social Security Disability law. In fact, she was an original board member on the state’s specialization committee. Active in the Disability Advocacy Section of the North Carolina Advocates for Justice, she is also a member of the American Association for Justice where she was past Chair of AAJ’s Disability Section. Few lawyers have spent as much time helping the disabled throughout their careers as Susan.
Joseph P. Tunstall is a trial lawyer through and through, having been successful in numerous personal injury, auto accident, Social Security, and workers’ comp cases, many of them before a jury. He has handled cases at both the federal and state levels, including the Supreme Court of North Carolina. Joe has tried close to 100 jury trials to verdict always representing the injured and never corporations or insurance companies in Eastern North Carolina. If you ask other lawyers who handle personal injury they know Joe tries his clients’ cases to juries. He is on the Board of Governors for the North Carolina Advocates for Justice and was past chair of the Auto Torts section helping North Carolinians injured as a result of automobile crashes.

I like to work with Social Security clients because I can and do make a difference in their lives. Outside of work, I like to attend estate auctions and incorporate my finds into my home or give them away to people who are starting a home or in need of items due to financial hardships.

Breanna (Bre) Cavanaugh, Receptionist. I am a graduate of Edgecombe Early College High, located in Tarboro, NC. I am currently in pursuit of a degree in Office Administration and am a member of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society. I enjoy putting a smile on other peoples faces. I truly believe that all people should be treated with respect and understanding. I always strive to do my very best at anything I do. I enjoy finding solutions to new problems and collaborating with others, but I also enjoy taking the time to overcome challenges on my own. Leslie Sheffield is a native of Lynchburg, VA. She earned her Bachelor’s in Business Administration from the University of Lynchburg. She has worked as a paralegal for 18 years in the areas of Personal Injury and Workers’ Compensation. Leslie has a passion for helping people, and working in her community and church.
Norma Torres, Legal Assistant
Norma Torres is a native of Greenville, North Carolina. She is a first-generation college graduate of Pitt Community College where she obtained her Associates Degree in Paralegal Studies. Norma has worked as a legal assistant for 8 years focusing primarily on Personal Injury. She is committed to assist the attorneys in every way possible to ensure our clients’ feel heard and their needs met. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, trips to target and planning family outings.
