Road rage comes back to haunt driver in car accident

A viral video that humorously depicts the dangers of road rage has been making the rounds of the Internet since it was posted on March 26. Fortunately, nobody was hurt in this car accident, but most people in Raleigh know that driving too aggressively to “get back” at another driver is reckless, and can cause serious injury.

The YouTube video comes from outside of North Carolina. According to a description written by the person who posted it, she was driving on a state route on a recent rainy day when a pickup truck began tailgating her. The truck followed her too closely for several minutes, the last couple of which were captured on video when the driver pulled out her phone to record it.

Finally, the pickup passes on the right side. The driver is seen making an obscene gesture as he goes by. A moment later, his truck spins out on the wet road. The pickup skids across the lanes in the opposite side of the road before coming to a rest in the ditch.

The driver fled the scene of the accident, according to the YouTube poster. Sheriff’s deputies found him and arrested him on suspicion of leaving the scene of a crash. “Needless to say,” the uploader wrote, “I’ve never seen Karma come back so fast.”

Road rage is a condition in which a driver allows anger to cloud his or her judgment. He or she may tailgate at high speeds, or even try to cause a car accident on purpose. Often, this is out of a desire for “revenge” against another driver, but road rage is never worth the potential damage to life and limb.

We would also like to remind our readers that using your phone while driving is a form of distracted driving, which is also dangerous. The driver who recorded this accident is fortunate that she did not cause a crash herself.
